NDIS Psychology

The Psychology Talk is able to work with participants on NDIS Plans that are Self-Managed or Plan Managed, understanding the importance of mental wellbeing and the challenges living with a disability can present. The Psychology Talk approach will be modern, personalised and kind as we provide participants and their families psychological support towards better mental health and connection.

Parents, teachers , partners and others in your support systems are key to the management of psychological health so collaboration to achieve clear strategies and goal-directed interventions will be a focus. As with everything there are usually a few bumps along the way and we will check in with you and your support system to ensure we are working towards your health goals effectively.

Some of the things we can work on together are:

  • Understand diagnoses and disabilities.
  • Develop tools to manage stress, anger, anxiety and/or depression.
  • Building emotional insight and regulations strategies.
  • Develop social skills to improve relationships and social connections.
  • Provide individual, family and relationship counselling.
  • Set goals, improve confidence and motivation.
  • Develop problem-solving skills to manage difficult situations.
  • Support participants in reaching their personal and NDIS goals.

What to expect in our sessions

Your first appointment is about understanding you and your history better so we will focus on information gathering. This is important so your valuable time can be tailored to your needs. You will also be provided with some initial tools to help manage your symptoms before your next appointment. We discuss any questions you have. From there we will discuss a plan for ongoing appointments and confirm what your desired outcome is as well as ongoing treatment options. We understand that seeing a psychologist can be overwhelming, and it is very normal to feel nervous and even anxious. We work to provide as comfortable of an environment for you as possible. We encourage feedback on your sessions for what is working well, and what isn't. We will work with you to find the most effective approach for your mental health treatment.
